Airing Books is a mini-game event which takes place at Man Mo Temple at the start of every day during Ryo Hazuki's time staying at the Da Yuan Apartments in the game Shenmue II. Ryo will stop performing this service to the temple after performing the Chawan Sign at the Dou Jiang Diner.
Gameplay[]
When Ryo is staying at the Da Yuan Apartments he must perform this task at the Man Mo Temple library. Ryo's task is to carry the piles of books out to the yard behind to the tables so that Jiliang Chang can lay them out to be aired.
The task lasts until midday or until Ryo has carried out all of the piles of books. Whilw carrying out the books Ryo will encounter QTE prompts which, if failed, will cause Ryo to drop the books losing time for the task. Ryo can choose to either walk while carrying the books, which results in fewer QTE prompts but is a slower pace, or to run which is much faster but has more QTE prompts.
Rewards[]
- Diagonal Wipe - Carrying more than 10 piles of books in one morning.
- Horseshoe Kick - Carrying more than 10 piles of books in one morning.
- Mantis Combo - Carrying more than 10 piles of books in one morning.
- Lunging Strike - Carrying all 14 piles of books out for 2 mornings in a row.
Trivia[]
- It is not possible to carry out all of the books at the walking pace.
- Whenever Ryo tries to leave when he has to air out the books, he will be stopped by Jiliang and have to go back to the yard. Ryo can not air any books out and let the time run out, however the player will miss out on rewards and extra cutscenes.
- It is actually possible to skip this mini-game entirely when it triggers through the "map glitch" method. However, the player will still miss the rewards and cutscenes.[1]
