The Blue Snakes is a Chinese criminal organization operating in several hideouts along the Lijiang River. They work for the Chi You Men cartel unkowningly.

Shenmue III[]
When Ryo Hazuki arrives at Bailu Village there are reports of gang recent gang violence within the area. Upon further investigation Ryo finds out that the gang has been after Stonemasons within the village. With Yunshen Yuan and Guowei Xu missing Ryo and Shenhua Ling visit the other stonemasons of the village. Caizhe Zhou and Junhao Ke homes have been ransacked but Junhao Ke informs Ryo that the thugs were after information on the Phoenix Mirror.
With the list they find at Guowei Xu's house they figure Yanxin Ye to be their next victim. Up[on arriving at Yanxin's house in Rainbow Basin, his mother Guiying Ye is being assaulted by Anyan Li and Gao. After defeating them both, Ryo encounters Yanlang who proves to be too strong for Ryo.
Ryo awakes with Guiying Ye in her home and informs Ryo that Yanxin Ye has gone into hiding at the Hermit’s Nest, upon arrival Ryo finds him hold up in the Meeting Hall. Later Ryo finds the Blue Spiders beating down the elderly villagers, Ryo once again manages to beat Anyan Li and Gao but fails to defeat Yanlang again.
After a series of tasks set by Jiusi Sun, he teaches Ryo the Body Check, a powerful Bajiquan move. Ryo returns to the Meeting Hall to fight Yanlang, this time defeating him.
With Yanlang held captive, he first refuses to speak to Ryo but after a moment alone with Shenhua he scared and more willing to cooperate. He states he was ordered to search for the Phoenix Mirror, after failing to provide evidence their next task was to kidnap the stonemasons of the village and confirms he already got to Yunshen Yuan. He reveal that he didn't know the identity of whom forced them to proceed with this tasks, only that Chai was sent to overlook their progress. He states that Chai is approaching Elder Yeh which causes Ryo and Shenhua to leave immediately in fear for her safety.
Later Yanlang, Anyan Li and Gao appear again in Niaowu as part of the Story Quest Pack DLC, now having aligned with the Blue Spiders, an organisation put together by Yangfeng Wei. He appears towards the end of the story after Ryo rescues Shuqin Zhang who had been held captive by the Blue Spiders. Yanlang challenges Ryo as revenge for their last meeting but loses the battle.
