Breaking the Stone is a mini-game featured at the Golden Shopping Mall in the Golden Quarter, Wan Chai, Hong Kong in the game Shenmue II.
Shenmue II[]
When Ryo Hazuki first meets Zongquan Bai in the Golden Shopping Mall after learning about the wude, Zongquan gathers nearby attention claiming that he can smash a rock into tiny pieces. Once Ryo smashes the rock, Zongquan tells him that he used to do martial arts but is now down and out. Ryo then tells him that Master Zhoushan Xuan mentioned him saying that he was powerless when he expelled him. Zongquan then gives Ryo a letter to give to his master.
Gameplay[]
The Breaking the Stone mini-game is a one time only event. It is played with Ryo holding a stone in his palm and a meter at the bottom left of the screen rising and falling. The player must strike when the meter is at it's peak and once again as the meter turns from yellow to blue.
If Ryo fails, Zongquan will whisper advice in his ear, and be able to try again. If he fails three times, Zongquan will say that he let him down and the player will have to retry the whole scene. When sucessful, Ryo will converse with Zongquan and receive the letter to give to Master Zhoushan.
Shenmue the Animation[]

In Shenmue the Animation Episode 7, Ryo breaks the stone for Zongquan much like in the game.
