The Chawan Sign Paper (武林書の紙 Takebayashi-sho No Kami) is a slip of paper found within the Wulinshu kept locked within a case at the library at the Man Mo Temple in the game Shenmue II.

Once Ryo succeeds at Catching Leaves at Man Mo Temple, Xiuying Hong grants Ryo Hazuki access to the Wulinshu book written by Yuanda Zhu. Upon examining the book, a slip of paper shown a diagram of the Chawan Sign falls to the ground.
Use[]
At first Ryo can use the Chawan Sign Paper to ask around and see if anyone knows what the sign represents. Ren Cheng of Collect Antiques informs Ryo it is a Chawan Sign and to ask Guixiang Lee for more information.
Visiting Guixiang at the Yan Tin Apartments at the South Carmain Quarter, she will explain that the Chawan Sign is a secret means of communicating between members of the same martial arts school using tea cups.
The symbols on the paper represent:
- 天 - Heaven, standing for time.
- 龍 - Dragon, standing for actions.
- 地 - Earth, standing for place.
- 友 - Comrade, standing for person.
On the back on the paper, there is a sign of aligned circles, Guixiang shows Ryo show to make the Chawan Sign with tea cups and to try locate a restaurants or cafe which has the option available.
Trivia[]
- When Ryo first obtains the paper, it is listed in the inventory as "Mysterious Paper". Once Ryo learns the meaning of the paper, it is renamed to "Chawan Sign Paper".
