Trivia[]
- Marshall's favorite characters in Shenmue besides Ryo are Guizhang Chen and Wuying Ren. He's also good friends with their English voice actor from the first two games Eric Kelso.
- Marshall is a fan of the Shenmue series, not just because he voiced Ryo.
- Marshall got the role of Ryo when he was pursuing his Fine Arts degree in Dance at SUNY-Purchase in upstate New York. It was while at SUNY-Purchase that he auditioned for the role of Ryo for the English version of Shenmue. Within a matter of weeks of auditioning, he was on a flight to Japan to record his lines for Shenmue. Marshall didn't have the chance to finish his college degree, since various projects were coming his way.[1]
- Marshall's daughter and only child Katana Marshall voices two child characters in Shenmue III and they're her first roles in voice acting.
- In Shenmue the Animation, Marshall did not reprise his role as Ryo in the English dub of the anime. He is voiced by Austin Tindle instead. However, in the Japanese dub of the anime, Ryo's original Japanese voice actor in the games Masaya Matsukaze reprised his role.
