Keizo Oishi (Kanji: 大石 敬三, Rōmaji: Ōishi Keizō) is the owner of Bunkado Antiques in Dobuita, Yokosuka. He is often absent from the shop, traveling around the country searching for antique art objects and old treasures. He is also the grandfather of Ryoko Nishizawa.

Biography[]

With over 40 years of experience, he has a sharp discerning eye for antique art and a extensive knowledge of Japanese antiques and artifacts. He also has a deep knowledge of Chinese antiques and carries a collection in his shop. He also is a collector of old books on history and unique martial arts move scrolls from various schools and is an old friend of Iwao Hazuki.

Shenmue[]

After Ine Hayata tells Ryo Hazuki that his father Iwao had something stored at Bunkado Antiques for him not too long before he passed away that was very important, Ryo heads to the shop hoping for it to be the Phoenix Mirror. Oishi gives him what was stored which was the Sword Handguard and says he doesn't know of there being any mirror stored when Ryo asks about it. After Ryo obtains the Sword Hanguard, visiting Bunkado Antiques will always have Oishi there rather than his granddaughter. He will also give Ryo a description of the move scrolls he buys, unlike his granddaughter if he purchases them when Oishi is there.

After Ryo obtains the Phoenix Mirror and visits Bunkado Antiques, Oishi will tell the Ryo the history of the stone it was made out of, which is Phantom River Stone found in Guilin.

Shenmue the Animation[]

Oishi appears in Shenmue the Animation Episode 3. Ryo gets the Sword Handguard that was stored at his shop for Iwao, and is disappointed that it isn't the Phoenix Mirror. Once Oishi hears him mention Master Chen's name, he tells Ryo more about Master Chen's background. He says that his company, the Jiu Feng Company is an illicit operation run by overseas Chinese who have operated in Yokosuka for a long time and have amassed a significant fortune by smuggling antique art from China. He warns him to avoid any association with him.

Etymology[]

  • The name Keizo meant"respect" (敬) (kei) and "three" (三) (zo).
  • Keizo's surname Oishi means "big, great" (大) (o) and "stone, volume measure" (石) (ishi).

Trivia[]

  • Oishi's zodiac sign is Scorpio and he has a O blood type.
