Forklift Racing is a Mini-Game event which takes place at the start of every day during Ryo Hazuki's time working at the New Yokosuka Harbor District in the game Shenmue.
Gameplay[]
Before every shift, Mark Kimberly conducts a Forklift Race where Ryo must race 3 laps around a set track within the New Yokosuka Harbor District. There are 5 participants and Ryo always begins at the back of the row. The controls for the Forklift operate the same as they do during the part-time job. When the race is finished, Ryo will receive a prize from Mark - A Forklift capsule toy with Ryo's position on the toy.
Rewards[]
- Forklift No.1 - For reaching 1st in the Forklift Race.
- Forklift No.2 - For reaching 2nd in the Forklift Race.
- Forklift No.3 - For reaching 3rd in the Forklift Race.
- Forklift No.4 - For reaching 4th in the Forklift Race.
- Forklift No.5 - For reaching 5th in the Forklift Race.
Trivia[]
- During the Forklift Race, it is a good idea to raise the lift so it doesn't collide with low-level objects.
- In Shenmue I & II, winning first place will also award the player the "Mark's Favorite" achievement/trophy.
- The competitors within the forklift race are - Yohei Kondo (No.4), Tsuyoshi Murakami (No.3), Hitoshi Numakubo (No.2) and Hiroaki Takeuchi (No.1).
- The prizes earned from the forklift races can be carried over from your cleared Shenmue save onto Shenmue II in the Dreamcast versions and remaster. When starting a new Shenmue II save without transferring a cleared save or in the Xbox release (Since the first game was not released on the Xbox), these toys are not in your inventory. However, they can still be obtained when opening capsule toy boxes located at A Vacant Lot, which is accessible after meeting both Izumi Takano and Eileen M. Edelweiss.
