Goro Ono (小野 五郎 Ono Gorō) is a retired mechanic who owns and operates the Knocking Motorcycle Shop in Dobuita, Yokosuka, Japan in the game Shenmue.
Biography[]
Before Goro retired, he worked for a major motorcycle manufacturer, but now he spends his time tuning and repairing motorcycles. He is quite renowned in the area among motorcycle enthusiasts for his excellent technique and skill. One time, Goro went to a motorcycle race in Malaysia. Asia Travel Company did not reserve the hotel for him and it was a big hassle for him.
Shenmue[]
Goro can usually be found repairing motorcycles outside of his shop in Dobuita. When Ryo Hazuki talks to him for the first time, he'll ask if Ryo's doing okay since he heard about his father's passing and that he was having a hard time. Talking to Goro after this conversation will have him try to help Ryo the best he can with any questions he has.
The bartender at Heartbeats Bar Yoshifumi Hato refers Ryo to Goro in order to find Charlie Grant since Charlie loves his motorcycle. Goro will say that Charlie is such a "poser" and not a real biker. He says he only stops by his shop sometimes, but refers Ryo to Noriyuki Tsuruoka of Jupitor's Jackets since he heard Charlie goes by there sometimes.
Goro also appears when Ryo chases Jimmy Yan of Asia Travel Company throughout Dobuita. He is repairing a motorcycle outside his shop, and succeeding the QTE when approaching it will have Ryo run past it. Failing it will have Ryo bump into it, knocking it over, and Ryo will apologize.
Shenmue the Animation[]

Goro very briefly appears in Shenmue the Animation Episode 2. When Ryo asks him about Charlie, he gives him some information on him.
Etymology[]
- The name Goro means "five" (五) (go) and "son" (郎) (ro).
- Goro's surname Ono means "small" (小) (o) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).

- Goro's zodiac sign is Scorpio and he has an A blood type.
