Guilin (Hànzì: 桂林, Pinyin: Guìlín, On'yomi: Keirin) is a real area located in the southern Guangxi Zhuang region of the People's Republic of China, near the Lijiang River.
The location consists mostly of forest and mountain regions with some small villages in between. In Guilin, Ryo Hazuki hopes to find Bailu Village, an area where his father, Iwao Hazuki visited many years ago.
Guilin means the "woods of fragrant olives", with "gui" referring to the type of tree, and the "lin" referring to the forest/woods.
