Haru Hirata (平田 はる Hirata Haru) is the elderly woman who runs the Hirata Tobacco Shop in Dobuita.
Biography[]
Hirata took good care of Masaru Aoi and Shinkichi Noda when they were children, which is why they can’t resist helping her anytime they can. In her younger days, she was known as the "Dobuita Queen" and she attracted many customers and admirers.
Shenmue the Animation[]
Hirata appears briefly in Shenmue the Animation Episode 3. When Ryo Hazuki calls the number that was on the Chinese letter sent to his father, and the operator hangs up without answering if it's the Chen residence he's calling, Hirata suggests he contacts the 104 operator helpline to find out where the number is from.
Etymology[]
- Haru's surname Hirata means "flat, broad, level, even, peaceful" (平) (hira) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta).
