Virtua Fighter (バーチャファイター Bācha Faitā) is a 1993 fighting game developed for the Sega Model 1 arcade platform by Sega-AM2, a development group within Sega, headed by Yu Suzuki.

The characters of Virtua Fighter, including the boss character Dural make cameo appearances in Shenmue and Shenmue II as collectible capsule toys that Ryo Hazuki can collect. Some characters also appear on posters hanging up in Masayuki Fukuhara's room of the Hazuki Residence. Some characters also make other small cameo appearances throughout the two games such as small bags featuring Wolf Hawkfield and Shun Di on them hanging up at the Abe Store (most likely some type of non-purchasable collectibles) and scrolls with Shun Di on them hanging up at Wise Men's Kung Fu.

The Virtua Fighter and the other Sega capsule toys did not return in Shenmue III due to the game not being developed by Sega and Yu Suzuki no longer owning the rights to Virtua Fighter and the other Sega games and characters. Although there are some Virtua Fighter cameos in the arcades such as a poster of Virtua Fighter 3 and there's an arcade game called Chobu Chan Fighter where you play as Chobu-Chan and fight various Chobu versions of the Virtua Fighter characters.
