Xiuyu Xia (Hànzì: 夏秀玉, Pinyin: Xià Xiù Yù, On'yomi: Ka Shūgyoku) is the owner of Russiya China Shop in Dobuita, Yokosuka, Japan in the game Shenmue. She is also Gaowen Xie's grandmother, an acquaintance of Kame Shibukawa and Guangji Wang's teacher.
Shenmue[]
Ryo Hazuki enters her shop when looking for someone to translate the Chinese letter that was sent to his father Iwao Hazuki. Xiuyu thanks Ryo for helping her grandson Gaowen in Sakuragaoka. Ryo asks her to translate the letter and she does.
Later, once Ryo finds the Phoenix Mirror he can enter Xiuyu's shop again and she will give him some information about the mirror.
Shenmue the Animation[]

Xiuyu appears in Shenmue the Animation. At the end of Episode 2, Shigeo Yamagishi suggests Ryo go to her shop to get the letter sent to his father translated.
At the beginning of Episode 3, when Ryo approaches her shop, it's closed, then the boy he helped Gaowen thanks him for helping him and wonders why he's headed to their home. He soon learns that Gaowen is Xiuyu's grandson and she thanks Ryo for helping him. She then translates the letter.
Etymology[]
- Xiuyu means "show, beautiful, elegant, excellent, handsome, luxuriant, outstanding" (秀) (xiu) and "beautiful, pure, jade, jasper" (玉) (yu).
- Xia means "summer, Xia Dynasty" (夏).
Trivia[]
- Xiuyu's zodiac sign is Libra and she has a B blood type.
- Despite being able to read Chinese, Ryo cannot ask Xiuyu to translate the Mysterious Scroll and Stab Armor scroll. These only can be translated by Guizhang Chen.
