Xuezhong Yan (Hànzì: 厳学忠, Pinyin: Yán Xuézhōng, Onyomi: Gen Gakuchū) is a character in Shenmue III. He's usually busy chopping wood in Niaowu, near Hotel Niaowu. He provides the chance to chop some wood for money. If Ryo cannot pay for his room in the hotel, Jialing Ma, the owner, will send Ryo to chop some wood at once to have enough money for the rent.
