Yuji Nito (仁藤 雄司 Nitō Yūji) is the owner of You Arcade in Dobuita, Yokosuka.
Biography[]
Despite owning the arcade, he doesn't play a lot of arcade games so he doesn't tend to update the machines unless his customers tell him about new games. He only set up the business three years ago after a lot of other failed businesses and this is his last chance to succeed as he and his wife are now in debt from the previous failures. One day, he hopes to have paid off all their debts and go travelling around the world with his wife.
What's Shenmue?[]
When Ryo Hazuki enters You Arcade, and asks Yuji about Mr. Yukawa, he reveals that Yukawa was at the arcade. Yuji then gives him Yukawa's business card and lets him know that there is also something written of the back of it.
Shenmue[]
When Ryo is searching for the tattoo parlor hoping to meet Charlie Grant, and goes to You Arcade and asks Yuji about it, he will say that a tattooed man comes into the arcade all the time. That man is Shingo Murasaki, and once he is at the arcade playing a game with Koji Yabe, Ryo can ask him about his tattoo and he'll tell him the location of the tattoo parlor if he agrees to join their biker gang.
At You Arcade, when Ryo is supposed to meet Jimmy Yan of Asia Travel Company to pick up his ticket to Hong Kong, Chai ambushes him and they fight. If Ryo successfully defeats Chai, he will rescue a tied up Yuji behind his desk. Yuji will then let him know that Jimmy is one of the Mad Angels. After saving Yuji, if Ryo enters the arcade and speaks to him, he will thank Ryo for saving him.
When playing games at You Arcade, Ryo can earn more items for his collection by scoring high enough scores. Yuji will tell him he's pretty good, then hand him the prize. Clearing Space Harrier and Hang On with only one credit will have Yuji hand Ryo a certificate for each game with his face on it.
Etymology[]
- The name Yuji means "hero, manly" (雄) (yu) and "officer, boss" (司) (ji).
- Yuji's surname Nito means "compassionate" (仁) (ni) and "wisteria" (藤) (to).[1]
